TIMS Task

Use this DPP item to practice multiplication and division facts through problem solving.

    1. 10 × 3 = 30 corners
    2. 9 × 4 = 36 corners
    3. 6 × 6 = 36 corners
  1. 56 ÷ 4 = 14 rectangles
  2. 27 ÷ 3 = 9 triangles
  3. 4 × 4 = 16 corners
    7 × 3 = 21 corners
    16 + 21 = 37 corners

Z. Counting Corners

Write a number sentence to show how you solved each problem.

  1. Fern has pattern blocks scattered on her desk. Find the number of corners if she has:

    1. 10 separate triangles.
    2. 9 separate rectangles.
    3. 6 separate hexagons.
  2. Fern counts 56 corners. All the shapes are rectangles. How many rectangles does she have?
  3. Fern counts 27 corners. All of the shapes are triangles. How many triangles does she have?
  4. Four rectangles and 7 triangles are on Fern's desk. Find the number of corners.
