Materials Preparation

Prepare Shapes from Triangles Chart. Cut apart the cards on the Shapes from Triangles Masters. Tape each card to the top of a larger piece of chart paper.

Prepare Shape Finder Chart. Prepare and display chart paper for the Shape Finder game. See Figure 1.

Prepare Quadrilateral Sort Cards. Ask students to cut apart the cards on the Quadrilateral Sort Cards page from the Student Activity Book and place them in a bag or envelope to use during the lesson and then at home to play a game.

Place Mystery Sort in a Learning Center. Prepare copies of the Mystery Sort: Quadrilaterals page from the Student Activity Book and the Quadrilateral Sort Cards Master to provide targeted practice with describing and classifying two-dimensional shapes using the properties of shapes.
