TIMS Task

Refer students to the Multiplication Strategies Menu.

    1. 432
    2. 553
    3. 306
    4. 344
    5. 464
    6. 252
  1. Possible response for 1C: First, I broke 102 into 100 + 2. Then, I multiplied 3 × 100 = 100 and 3 × 2 = 6. Finally, I added 300 + 6 = 306.
  2. Possible response: 43 is close to 40 so I multiplied 40 × 8 and got 320 as my estimate. That is close to 344.
