Lesson 7

Workshop: Fraction Concepts

Est. Class Sessions: 2–3

Homework and Practice

  • Students can complete the problems they chose to solve on the Show and Compare Fractions pages in the Student Activity Book.
  • Students can take home any of the Fraction Fill Games pages (Lesson 4) or Fraction Trails Games pages (Lesson 6) to play with family members. Allow students to choose the game that best meets their needs. They will need the game directions and game boards sections from the Student Activity Book or copies of the Masters included in this lesson and the Fraction Games Spinners page. Remind them to use a pencil and paper clip for a spinner.
  • Assign Home Practice Part 6. Students practice finding equivalent fractions and comparing and ordering fractions.
  • Assign DPP items W–Z. In Bit W, students practice comparing and ordering fractions. In Task X, students find equivalent times using different units of measure. In Challenge Z, students write and solve problems involving fractions.
