Lesson 5

Life Spans

Est. Class Sessions: 1–2

Extension

Collect Additional Life Span Data. Choose one or more time frames that your class is interested in studying. You may choose to look for data on people who lived during the 1800s and 1900s and compare your data with the data in the lesson. You can gather data from obituaries in newspapers as described in the Student Guide or you can gather data from cemeteries. Using information from the headstones, record the birth and death dates for at least 30 to 40 people in each time frame you choose to study. Time frames should not overlap. Graph this data and compare it to the graphs you have already made.
