  1. 12 pets; Possible response: I started with nine fish; one dog makes ten pets and two cats make 12.
  1. 14 pets; Possible responses: I started at nine and counted 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. I used my ten frames. I had one full ten frame and then four in the other one, so 14.
