  3. 3 groups of 3 and 1 group of four because there is 1 student left over. Discuss what is similar about each of these problems and what is different. Help students understand that the remainder of a division problem can be interpreted in different ways and the interpretation depends on the context of the problem.

  2. Katie has 13 yards of ribbon and 4 bows to make. She uses the same amount of ribbon for each bow. How much ribbon did she use for each bow?
  3. There are 13 students playing. They need to be organized into 4 groups. How many students are in each group?
