Repeating Pattern
Est. Class Sessions: 1–2Summarizing the Lesson
Use hand clapping as a way to summarize and wrap up the lesson. Vary the patterns using long and short claps, slaps on desks, foot stomps, etc. For example, one long clap, three short claps, and one desk slap would be an ABBBCABBBC pattern. Model a pattern and, as the students identify the pattern, have them join in. After each pattern, have a student write the alphabet shorthand for it on a display. Let individual students initiate their own hand clapping patterns. The rest of the class can follow along and identify the pattern.
