TIMS Bit

A paper-and-pencil method and a mental math strategy are given for each.

  1. Answers will vary. Possible response: For mental math, I like using friendly numbers because they are easy to remember. For a paper-and-pencil strategy, I like using the all-partials method because it is easy to calculate ones, tens, and hundreds separately.

EE. Addition Methods

Solve each problem two ways: using a paper-and-pencil method and a mental math strategy.

  1. 76 + 27 =
  2. 143 + 95 =
