TIMS Challenge

At first glance this problem appears simple. However, students will need to make multiple conversions in order to solve each part of the question. Students will first have to decide how many feet will be traveled in 60 seconds, or 1 minute, before finding how many feet will be traveled in 1 hour. They will then have to convert feet to yards to answer the final question.

18 feet/2.5 seconds = 36 feet/5 seconds = 432 feet/60 seconds = 25,920 feet/3600 seconds

or 8640 yards/1 hour

N. The Backward Race

Jackie's speed in the Backward Race was 18 feet/2.5 seconds. If she can travel at this same rate for 1 hour, how many feet will Jackie travel? How many yards is this?
