Hour Walk

Extensions

  • Ask students to solve the Hour Walk problem by creating a graph. They can collect data on the number of steps students walk in 1, 2, and 4 minutes. Then they graph the number of steps on the horizontal axis and the time in minutes on the vertical axis.
  • Ask students to solve a parallel problem and compare their solutions. About how many cartwheels can you do in an hour? About how many steps does your grandfather walk in an hour? your little sister? your dog?
