TIMS Task

This DPP item involves the multiplication facts for the 10s.

Students might think a shower 3 inches by 2 inches does not make sense. However, remind students that Myrna Myrmidon and Aunt Penny are two ants that live in Antopolis. They were introduced in Unit 2. Constructing runways for Antopolis Airport was the context for learning about area and perimeter.

Each of the three walls is 6 square inches.

Altogether, the three walls have a total area of 18 square inches.

They will need 2 boxes.

P. Tiling the Shower

Myrna Myrmidon and her Aunt Penny want to tile 3 walls of their shower. Each wall is 3 inches by 2 inches. How many square-inch tiles will they need in all? If the tiles come in packages of 10, how many packages should they buy?
