Multiplication and Rectangles

Homework and Practice

  • Assign the Multiplication and Rectangles Homework section in the Student Guide. Use one or two examples from Question 1 to demonstrate how to solve a problem by drawing rectangles. Have sheets of Square-Inch Grid Paper available for students.
  • Assign DPP items A–D. Task B is an estimation problem.
  • DPP Task D can be used as a Problem of the Week. Students are asked to arrange digits to get the largest and smallest sums and differences.
Math Facts. Bit A provides practice with multiplication facts for the 5s and 10s in the context of elapsed time. Bit C is a multiple choice question that asks students to interpret a remainder and provides practice with multiplication facts for the 5s.
