TIMS Bit

Copy and prepare the Triangle Flash Cards: 9s. Part 1 of the Home Practice reminds students to take home the list of facts they need to study as well as their flash cards.

Inform students when the quiz on the nines will be given. This quiz appears in TIMS Bit II.

Ongoing Assessment

Have students record their progress learning the division facts for the 9s [E12] on their Facts I Know charts.

See the Letter Home for Targeted Practice ideas.

A. Division Facts: 9s

With a partner, use your Triangle Flash Cards: 9s to quiz each other on the division facts. Ask your partner to first cover the numbers in the squares. Use the two uncovered numbers to solve a division fact. Separate the cards into three piles: Facts I Know Quickly, Facts I Can Figure Out, and Facts I Need to Learn.

Then go through the cards again, but have your partner cover the numbers in the circles. Use the uncovered numbers to solve a division fact. Separate the cards into three piles again.

Both times through, practice the facts that are in the last two piles and make a list of these facts so you can practice them at home. Circle all the facts you know and can answer quickly on your Division Facts I Know chart.

Repeat this process for your partner.
