Lesson 2

Lines

Est. Class Sessions: 1

Summarizing the Lesson

Review the Geometry Word Chart. Have students record words and pictures on the chart to represent intersecting lines, parallel lines, and perpendicular lines. Allow the class to critique and respond to the representations as they are added to the chart.

Review all of the terms shown so far on the chart. Students may want to demonstrate their increasing understanding of the geometric concepts on the chart. Ask students if they want to elaborate on any ideas or examples by revising or adding to the representations.

Identify Lines and Intersections. Have students complete the Lines and Intersections page in the Student Activity Book. Use their work on this page to assess how well students understand the basic concepts of lines, line segments, and rays, and how well they are able to access and implement the notation introduced in this lesson.

Use student work on the Lines and Intersections page in the Student Activity Book to assess their abilities to identify and draw points, rays, lines, line segments [E3], and intersecting, perpendicular, and parallel lines [E4].

Targeted practice for Expectation 4 can be found in the Workshop in Lesson 6.
