Workshop: Angles and Lines

Est. Class Sessions: 1

Extensions

Have students draw and color their own tessellating quilt designs. Ask students to use the Power Polygons™ to develop a tessellation. They then transfer the design to paper. Provide copies of the Triangle Grid Paper Master for students who find it easier to trace the Power Polygons™ on grid paper than on plain paper. The Triangle Grid Paper consists of 1/2-inch equilateral triangles and may be easier to use because some Power Polygons™ (G, H, I, K, M, N, and partially L) fit on the lines. Other Power Polygons™ (A, B, C, D, E, F, J, O) do not fit properly on the grid lines, so students who wish to use these pieces can use plain paper.
