TIMS Bit

Use this DPP item to provide practice with multiplication facts.

1–2.

  1. All the circled numbers are multiples of 6.
  2. 35, 63, 56, 40, 45

These numbers are in pairs because of the turn-around rule; for example:

    5 × 8 = 8 × 5. Students refer to these facts as turn-around facts.

M. Patterns in Multiplication

Complete the table. Then follow the directions below.

  1. Draw a line through the square numbers.
  2. Circle numbers that are a multiple of 2 and also a multiple of 3. All the circled numbers are a multiple of what other number? (Hint: What row and column are most of these numbers in?)
  3. What numbers are left unmarked? Why are these numbers in the table twice?
