F. Parallel and Perpendicular

You will make one drawing for Questions 1–6. Read all the questions before you start. Use a ruler.

  1. Draw a line segment on your paper and label the endpoints A and B.
  2. Draw a line segment parallel to AB and label it CD.
  3. Draw a line segment, EF, perpendicular to AB and intersecting AB and CD.
  4. Is EF also perpendicular to CD? Why or why not?
  5. Draw another line segment that is neither perpendicular to nor parallel to any of the others and label it GH.
  6. Carefully erase your letters and show your drawing to a friend. Have him or her show you a pair of parallel lines and a pair of perpendicular lines.
